FAQ

You haven't worked with me before and have a lot of questions in mind?

Here is a list of the most frequently asked questions.

  • I'M CURRENTLY RECEIVING COUNSELLING, CAN I STILL DO HYPNOTHERAPY?
If you're currently in the process of a form of therapy, please talk to your health care provider or therapist first, before booking a session. Even though it is safe to combine Hypnotherapy with other forms of therapy, there are situations that may require a profound collaboration between your therapist and I - as your hypnotherapist. Communication is key here. If you are interested to experience Hypnotherapy, please talk to your therapist first, to get an idea of the approach they've chosen for the work with you. If a Hypnotherapy session does not interfere with that, reach out to me to find out more.
  • DOES HYPNOTHERAPY HAVE SIDE EFFECTS?
Please keep in mind that everything that shows an impact usually also comes with side effects. This goes for medication and also therapy. The side effects of hypnosis are very little. Often clients report headache especially in the first two days after the session. Also it is possible that you feel vulnerable or emotional in the days after the session. This will lessen within the integration period which usually lasts around 10 days. One part of my approach is doing follow ups with you after our session. In these check-ups I'll get insight about how you are feeling and can still support you.
  • HOW LONG IS A SESSION?
The first session will be 2,5h - 3h. This includes a pretalk and the hypnosis itself. Follow-up sessions can be shorter than that, depending on your individual topic.
  • IS HYPNOTHERAPY SIMILAR TO CBT OR OTHER FORMS OF THERAPY?
As a medical doctor I do have profound knowledge of body and mind which I'm using dialy for my work. I am not a licensed behavioral therapist or psychiatrist though. Hypnotherapy is working with your subconsious mind and it's a form of additional therapy that is also used in psychology and psychiatry. Even though it uses elements of different therapy forms, it is not cognitive behavioral therapy or analytic therapy in the classical form.
  • WILL I LOSE CONTROL DURING THE SESSION OR BE UNCONSCIOUS?
This is a concern many clients have before booking their first session which is mainly influenced by the public picture of stage hypnosis. Please keep in mind that our pracitce is Hypnotherapy, NOT stage hypnosis. At NO point will you lose control during the session, NOR will you be unconscious. You'll be in a deep state of relaxation similar to meditation or daydreaming. This state is characterized by being in a measaruble alpha/theta brainwave state. You will remain in your full power and will still be able to stand up to leave the session if you wish to do so. For the whole session you will have control over you body. I will not make you do things you don't want to do.
  • HOW DO I PREPARE FOR A SESSION?
Please make sure to eat before the session as you will be requiring energy for the 3-hour time frame you will be with me. Please avoid: - any coffee or strong caffeinated drinks within 2 hours of the start of the session - drinking alcohol within 24 hours of the session - any mind-altering drugs (natural and synthetic) 24 hours before the session - all hallucinogetic 4 days before the session
  • HOW DO I KNOW IF I AM HYPNOTIZABLE?
Never have I met a client that did not fall into hypnosis. In fact your body already knows how to fall into hypnosis as each of us is doing this several times per day without us even noticing. This could be while you're driving a way you know very well, prepare your coffee in the morning or go running, etc. There are very few clinical limitations, the large majority of people will be able to fall into a hypnosis long enough to practice hypnotherapy.
  • WHAT IS HYPNOTHERAPY?
Hypnotherapy is an empowering tool that can significantly change and help you to tap into your subconscious mind and work with old programs/ belief systems that are holding you back. It has been used for centuries and is one of the oldest forms of healthcare already used by the Egyptians, or well-known doctors like the Austrian psychoanalyst Sigmund Freud.
